A curiosity from the 100% Compostable exhibition! I've specifically featured this piece from the show in the ArtSpace404 blog for my fibers companion Mikey, as he's a true appreciator of all things crochet. This particular piece is titled "Obama Doily" by Amy Keefer. The "Obama Doily" is part of a series of mathematically rendered doilies containing facts. It was constructed using a ratio model of electoral votes in concentric rounds of stitches. The ratio of Obama's votes on November 4-5, 2008 over the 270 votes needed to win the election, resulted in ending victory rate of 125% -which is evident in the density of stitches!
